At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

teachers who help students feel welcome and included
access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
help for students who are new or changing year levels
clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
developing health care plans for students
open communication about wellbeing and support.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At Lochinvar Public School, we are proud to be a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, committed to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. PBL is a whole-school approach that teaches and reinforces positive behaviours, helping students develop important social and emotional skills alongside their academic progress.
Our PBL program is built around three core values: Respect, Responsibility, and Pride. Respect means treating others, ourselves, and our school community with kindness and consideration. Responsibility encourages students to take ownership of their actions, make safe choices, and contribute positively to our learning environment. Pride inspires us to do our best, celebrate our achievements, and show pride in ourselves, our school, and our community.
Our school mascot, Boobook the owl, can be found all around our school grounds. Boobook serves as a friendly reminder to all students to be thoughtful and wise in their decisions and to act with integrity and kindness every day.
Through PBL, students are explicitly taught these values and positive behaviours in the classroom, playground, and around the school. We celebrate achievements and positive behaviour regularly, reinforcing our shared commitment to making Lochinvar Public School a safe, supportive, and happy place to learn.
