A year at our school
Infants Athletics Carnival – Kindergarten to Year 2
Lochinvar Public School is pleased to host the Infants Athletics Carnival for students in Kindergarten to Year 2. This event, held on school grounds, focuses on fostering fundamental movement skills and physical activity through a range of age-appropriate track and field activities.
The carnival emphasises participation, collaboration, and the development of sportsmanship in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Families are encouraged to attend and support their children as they engage in enjoyable physical challenges designed to build confidence and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
Through the Infants Athletics Carnival, our school community celebrates the importance of physical education and the joy of movement in the early years of learning.
Primary Athletics Carnival – Years 3 to 6
Each year, Lochinvar Public School proudly participates in the Primary Athletics Carnival held at the Maitland Regional Athletic Centre. This event offers students in Years 3 to 6 the opportunity to compete in a variety of track and field events, including running races, long jump, high jump, shot put, and throwing events. Through these activities, students develop their physical fitness, skills, determination, and sportsmanship.
Students trial in different events at the school level with the chance to qualify for further competitions at the zone, regional, and state levels. This provides a clear pathway for students to extend their athletic abilities and represent the school and community with pride.
The Athletics Carnival supports our school’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, resilience, and teamwork. It encourages all students to strive for personal bests in a fun, supportive, and friendly environment.
Anzac Day
Each year, Lochinvar Public School holds a solemn Anzac Day service to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of Australia’s servicemen and women. This important event provides an opportunity for our school community to reflect on the legacy of the Anzac spirit—characterised by resilience, mateship, and commitment to duty.
Through this service, students engage respectfully with Australia’s history and develop a deeper appreciation of the values that have shaped our nation. The Anzac Day commemoration aligns with our commitment to fostering respectful, informed, and responsible citizenship, encouraging students to honour those who have contributed to our country’s peace and freedom.
Lochinvar Public School is proud to uphold this tradition, ensuring that the significance of Anzac Day is recognised and remembered across generations.
Easter Hat Parade
Each year, Lochinvar Public School proudly hosts our much-loved Easter Hat Parade, a vibrant and joyful celebration that marks the arrival of the Easter season. This special event is a highlight for students, staff, and families, offering a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate creativity, tradition, and festive fun.
Students are invited to design and decorate their own unique Easter hats, showcasing their artistic skills and imagination. The parade provides a platform for children to proudly display their creations as they walk together in a colourful procession, fostering a sense of belonging and school spirit. The event promotes collaboration, encourages self-expression, and helps build confidence among our young learners.
The Easter Hat Parade is also a time for families and carers to gather, share in the celebration, and support our students in their creative endeavours. The atmosphere is filled with excitement, laughter, and the joy of community, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
At Lochinvar Public School, we believe that events like the Easter Hat Parade not only enrich the school experience but also strengthen the bonds between home and school. We look forward to welcoming everyone to join us in this wonderful celebration of Easter and creativity.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day is a significant occasion at Lochinvar Public School, where we come together as a diverse community to celebrate inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. This annual event highlights the rich cultural diversity that forms the foundation of our school and unites us in a spirit of understanding and acceptance.
On Harmony Day, students and staff participate in a variety of activities designed to promote awareness and appreciation of different cultures, traditions, and perspectives. Through engaging workshops, performances, and collaborative projects, our school community learns the importance of respect, kindness, and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
The day offers an opportunity for reflection on how we can contribute to building a harmonious and welcoming environment, not only within our school but also in the broader community. By embracing diversity and fostering empathy, Lochinvar Public School cultivates an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported.
Jump Rope For Heart
At Lochinvar Public School, we love taking part in Jump Rope for Heart, a fun event where students skip, jump, and play games to stay active and healthy. This event helps kids learn about keeping their hearts strong by exercising and making good health choices.
During Jump Rope for Heart, students enjoy jumping rope and other fun activities that help improve their fitness and coordination. It’s a great way for children to be active while having a good time with their friends.
This event also helps raise money for the Heart Foundation, an organisation that supports people’s heart health through research and education. Families and friends can help by supporting the students in raising funds.
We are excited to see all our students join in and be part of this fun way to stay healthy and help others. Together, we can jump for a healthier heart and a healthier community!
Book Week
Each year, Lochinvar Public School hosts an exciting program of events to mark Book Week and Education Week, engaging students in a wide range of activities designed to inspire learning and creativity. These celebrations are a key part of our school culture, integrating literacy, the arts, and STEM learning.
During Book Week, students participate in activities that promote reading, storytelling, and literary exploration, including the much-anticipated dress-up day where students and staff come dressed as their favourite book characters, fostering imagination and community spirit. The Book Fair is also held during this time, providing students and families with the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide selection of books to encourage a lifelong love of reading.
Alongside Education Week, our annual Art Gallery exhibition showcases student artwork across multiple mediums, highlighting their creative talents.
Complementing these events, Science Week activities encourage curiosity and hands-on scientific inquiry, allowing students to explore and investigate real-world concepts.
Through the combined focus of these celebrations, Lochinvar Public School supports the development of well-rounded learners.
